Activation should typically take 10-20 seconds, never more than a minute. If appears to be taking longer than this, there’s probably something else wrong which would cause it to eventually fail.

The most common cause of activation failures is not having connectivity – see our proxy doc for notes on setting it up correctly: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/configuring-the-network-proxy-settings/ If you still experience issues,

Due to the diverse nature of issues that could still result in failures or delays, do write to us at support@genuitec.com or open a thread here: http://myeclipseide.com/forums so we can investigate and resolve ASAP.

    support-tony commented  ·

For others checking in here, Logan's problem appeared to be intermittent and switching to another network solved the issue for him. As Brian has mentioned, we'd love to follow up instances of this issue through our normal support channels, which provide a better platform for interacting with customers on support issues. This forum is really for suggestions about improvements to the features.

    support-tony commented  ·

Sorry about the slow activation, Joe. Could you let us know which method you used, give us an indication of the time it took to activate and what your expectation was? If you have time, you could delete or comment out the activation key in the .myeclipse.properties file (in your home folder) and try activating again, to check if it was perhaps a network glitch? Thankfully, it's usually a once per year operation, but we would like to fix this if the delay happens consistently.

    support-tony commented  ·

Anonymous, sorry you're seeing a problem with activation. We have seen occasional issues with our activation server but it is quite rare and almost all activations go through without any problem. It's possible that there was a temporary problem with the activation server so please try again. If you still have a problem, please use our support forum, as that is a better place to handle issues. When raising issues, please provide as much information as possible, to minimize the back and forth with questions and answers. In this case, we'd need to know the release of MyEclilpse you're working with, the OS you're running under and the method you're using to activate. Screenshots of the issue are also always useful. Our support forums can be found at: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/

    support-tony commented  ·

Terrell, I'm not clear on the problem here, though I'm sorry part of the process took so long; this isn't the usual experience.

Did the activation eventually work? Did you use automatic activation or web activation and what is the web link you're referring to (the link to the web activation page or the web page thanking you for activating)? It would also help to know when this occurred and with which OS and with which release of MyEclipse. If possible, could you provide more details on our support forums as that would be a better platform for dealing with problems; this forum is really for improvement suggestions.

Our support forums can be found here: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/

    Thanks for using MyEclipse.

    support-tony commented  ·

Sorry about the speed of activation. However, did the activation work for you? Luckily, this is a once per year operation but we'd like to know more details to help track down the problem. Can you provide details on our support forum, which is a better place for raising issues? Please include the steps you've taken and the error log. https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/installation-configuration-updates/

    support-tony commented  ·

Yes, that does describe "slow" pretty well! However, I'm still not clear whether the activation eventually worked for you. We did have some activation issues last month and they do happen occasionally, with technical issues on the activation server. We can't be sure if your problem coincided with one of those times, as there isn't enough information to go on but, hopefully, you're all set now. If not, it would be best to use our forums to raise the issue and that is a better platform for handling support issues; this forum is intended for usability suggestions from our customers. Our support forums can be found at https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/ When raising support issues, please try to provide as much information as possible (see this FAQ for more info: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/forum-posting-guidelines-please-read-16/ ). Sorry about the inconvenience.

    support-tony commented  ·

Sorry about that. I assume that activation worked for you. If not, please raise the issue in our support forums. There are really only two activation methods, even though there are three options in the activation dialog. Could you describe exactly what you mean by "slow"? As this is a one-time action (per license period), hopefully it doesn't impact your use of the IDE.

    Prakash,

We're glad you like the features but sorry that you're seeing some performance problems. If possible, can you raise the issue on our development forums, mentioning where you're seeing excessive slowness? Here is a link to the forum: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/general-development/

    John,

Thanks for the note and I'm glad you managed to sort it out. I've tried this with our supported releases in the 2017 and 2018 streams but don't see the problem that you do. If possible, could you raise this on our support forums, as that is a much better place to sort out problems? We'd need details of your system and MyEclipse release, plus the error log (which can be exported from the Error Log view). This forum would be appropriate: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/spring-development/

Sorry you're seeing this. It seems that package isn't installed in Ubuntu 18.04 by default, as it was with Ubuntu 16.04. You can correct this by installing the package with:

    sudo apt install libgconf-2-4

You may need to restart the OS to have this work. Apologies for the inconvenience and we'll get that fixed.

We're sorry you're seeing some performance problems. As this is a forum for usability suggestions, can I ask you to start a topic on our support forums, so we can better deal with the issue? The following forum is probably appropriate: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/general-development/

Please provide as much detail on your system, to speed the investigation. For example, whether you put your workspace was migrated after the upgrade, a text file containing the information from Help->Installation Summary->Installation Details (not the installation details from the Help->About dialog), your error log (exported from the Error Log view), and some information about the number and type of projects in your workspace. If you can try a new workspace first, that would help us understand if there are perhaps some corrupted settings in your current workspace.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Ian. This is really a forum for suggestions about improvements to MyEclipse (we also have a similar feedback forum for Webclipse/Angular IDE). For problems and help, please use our support forums: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/

For this particular issue, our Angular tooling in MyEclipse doesn't yet support Angular 6 fully. You can work round this by creating an angular-cli.json file in the root of the project. This would make it appear in the CLI servers, allowing you to run it. The file name was changed in Angular 6, hence the problem (note, creating a file ".angular-cli.json" - with a leading period, will also work).

You might also want to read this post about some new tooling which can enhance your development experience when creating web apps: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/use-codemix-to-improve-your-angular-dev-experience-right-now/

Ian, sorry that the default for this function is not ideal for you. The default will never satisfy all users of course but you can always export a set of workspace preferences, in an epf file, and import that file each time you create a new workspace, as mentioned in the chosen answer to this StackOverflow question: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6295066/turn-off-spell-checking-in-eclipse-for-good

I'm not sure what your particular work situation is but if you have a number of colleagues with the same issue you may want to take a look at our SDC project which can provide this functionality. You can read more about SDC here: https://www.genuitec.com/products/sdc/

    Ian,

Thanks for your suggestion. We already have an enhancement request for this and I've linked this suggestion to it. We can't promise, of course, but it's under consideration.

Sorry you're having problems with the default activation setting. I don't think we've had a request to alter the default before and doing so would likely upset more customers than now. However, this doesn't help you so perhaps you have to activate often for some reason (normally, we wouldn't expect customers to activate more than once per year, unless they move to a different computer). If you activate frequently (though we do have a limit on activations, to deter piracy, which can be reset) could you describe your situation? Maybe we can add some kind of installation option, though I can't promise anything.

I'm sorry you're seeing problems with MyEclipse. Unfortunately, you have not supplied enough information for us to investigate. For handling problems, we have the support forums, which would be a better place to raise this. Please create a new topic at https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/general-development/ and include as much information as possible, including details of what you're doing, the problem in detail, the MyEclipse release and the OS. It is also usually helpful to include the output from Help->Installation Summary->Installation Details.

Before creating a topic, you might find this post useful: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/forum-posting-guidelines-please-read-15/

    Selcuk,

I'm sorry you're seeing this issue. Is it possible that you don't have permissions to create files at the location C:\Users\selcu_000\Documents ? The error indicates that the WAR file cannot be found whilst trying to write to it, which suggests that the WAR file wasn't able to be created in the specified location.

If you continue to have the problem, please raise the issue on our support forums (this forum is intended only for usabilitiy suggestions) where we can help you resolve it. Please include as much information as possible about the issue, along with your OS and MyEclipse versison details, along with the steps you're following to try to create the war.

Steve, for node and npm. you can choose the system installed version at project definition (pull down the appropriate combo box and choose "Use system installation" - it will also mention the version it detected). You can do the same when importing an Angular project. For Angular CLI, even when creating an angular project outside of eclipse, ng new will add the CLI to the dev dependencies and install it to the project, so there is not much we can do here (we install it ahead of creating the ng project but it would get installed anyway). If you have more issues on this, please create a topic in our support forums: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/webclipse/

I'm sorry you're having problems activating MyEclipse. If possible, can you please raise the issue on our forums? Here is the web address for the forum related to activation: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topics/myeclipse/installation-configuration-updates/ . You can, alternatively, email our ticket system using the address support @ genuitec.com (remove spaces around the "@"). Please provide as much detail as possible about the error you're seeing with activation; screenshots often help.

We have had a few rare problems with our activation server, in the last few weeks, though I'm not aware of any problem right now. So please so try to activate again before contacting us. You can read this article for more information on the various ways to activate your installation: https://www.genuitec.com/docs/setup/licensing-myeclipse/#5_Activating_Your_License

Robin, I'm not sure if this is a suggestion or you're complimenting us on MyEclipse. If it's the latter, thanks, very much. If it's the former, can you provide more detail about what you're after?

If you have problems, please raise them on our support forums.
